What Is Structural Integration?
Structural Integration is a hands-on manual therapy that works to balance your posture and movement by organising the soft tissue of your body. We work with a structural soft tissue, the fascia.
Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds everything within us, like an inner fabric.

It literally is the most abundant tissue we have within. It holds our shape and transmits force throughout our bodies.

It surrounds muscles, blood vessels, organs, nerves and it models to become tendon, ligament and forms the fibrous anchor into bone.

Fascia is designed to be an efficient strain-distribution system that also enables fluid movement and glide between body structures, but lifestyle factors can cause it become tight, dense and stiff or stuck.
It then becomes less able to distribute strain, and often the result is pain and imbalance or even feeling less coordinated and 'dis-connected'.

The good news is that postural and movement balance can be restored with the Structural Integration series.
The Structural Integration Series
The Structural Integration Series is a project of 12 sessions. Each session builds on the other to build support and to prepare for deeper change through the series.
Each session has it's specific territory and goals, and each session is tailored to you.
Hands-on manual therapy and light directional movements are used and we track our work through the session, which begins with a brief assessment.

There are 3 Phases in the Structural Integration Series

Sessions 1-4

The first 4 sessions work with the superficial muscles and fascia all around your body. These are our powerful movers and mobilisers.
As a result of this work you can expect to feel lighter, maybe taller, and that you move more easily.

Other goals of this phase are more open and free breath, feeling more connected to the ground through your feet and we are preparing for the next phase of the series : the core sessions

Sessions 5-8

The Core sessions relate to the Deep Front Line in Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (the lineage that I am trained in and practice). These 4 sessions relate to the vertical centre of your body and balances the muscle/fascia relationships from the foot to the tongue and jaw.

Sessions 9-12

This is the Integration phase of the Series. Here we work with the broader fascial planes and refine how movement transmits through your whole structure.
Our goal is to assist the shoulder and pelvic girdles to relate well. Often, an increased feeling of movement and body confidence emerges

Getting started
-
We all start from different places and have unique goals, and I have a 2 ways to choose from to get started with your Structural Integration project:

-
'An Introduction to Structural Integration' - a 1hour information session covering S.I. & any questions, your health history, assessments and goals - so you can take your next steps at your own pace.

-
You can get started straight away and experience the work with an Initial Session. In 90-minutes there's plenty of time to cover your health history, goals, questions and for a hands-on session
